The Ultimate Beginner's Guide to V2RayU on macOS

V2RayU is a simple, user-friendly V2Ray/Xray client for Mac. If you want a straightforward way to use VLESS or VMess on macOS, V2RayU is an excellent choice. This tutorial will get you up and running in minutes—no advanced configuration required.

Step 1 — Download and Install V2RayU

From the Official GitHub Page

Always download from the official releases page for integrity.

Installation

  1. Open the downloaded .dmg file.
  2. Drag the V2RayU icon into the Applications folder.
  3. If Gatekeeper blocks the app, go to System Settings → Privacy & Security and allow it.

Step 2 — Import Your Proxy Servers (Nodes)

Method A: Import via Subscription Link (Recommended)

  1. Copy your subscription URL provided by your service.
  2. Click the V2RayU icon in your menu bar → choose Subscription setting.
  3. Click +, paste your URL into the url field, add a remarks name, and click OK.
  4. Back in the menu, click Update subscription to fetch the server list.

Method B: Import from Clipboard (Single Server)

  1. Copy a single vless:// or vmess:// URL.
  2. Click the V2RayU icon in your menu bar → Import vmess/vless link from clipboard.

Step 3 — Activate the Proxy and Choose a Server

1) Turn On V2RayU

Click the menu bar icon and toggle Turn V2Ray-Core On to start routing traffic.

2) Select Your Server

Open the Server list and pick a node with normal latency and stable performance.

3) Choose Your Proxy Mode (PAC vs. Global)

Troubleshooting

Subscription update failed or shows 0 servers: Verify the URL is correct and reachable; ensure V2Ray-Core is turned on; try clicking “Update” once in Subscription setting.

IP hasn’t changed after turning it on: Make sure you not only turned on V2Ray-Core but also selected a specific server from the Server list. Confirm Proxy Mode is set to PAC or Global.
