The Ultimate Beginner’s Guide to v2rayNG on Android

v2rayNG is the most popular V2Ray/Xray client on Android. This tutorial walks you through every step—from installation to importing servers and establishing a reliable connection—using the latest Android UI patterns.

Step 1 — Download and Install v2rayNG

From the Official GitHub Releases (Recommended)

Download the APK from the official releases for integrity and timely updates.

From Google Play

You can also install via Google Play. Note that GitHub releases are typically updated faster.

Step 2 — Import Your Proxy Servers (Nodes)

Method A: Import via Subscription Link

  1. Copy your subscription URL provided by your service.
  2. Tap the menu ☰ (top-left) → Subscription group setting.
  3. Tap + (top-right), paste the URL, add a Remark, then tap the checkmark to save.
  4. Back on the main screen, tap the three-dot menu ⋮ (top-right) → Update subscription.

Method B: Import via QR Code (Best for Mobile)

  1. Display the node’s QR code on another device (e.g., your PC).
  2. On v2rayNG’s main screen, tap +Import from QRcode. Grant camera permission and scan.

Step 3 — Test Servers and Activate the Connection

1) Run a Connection Test

Tap the floating Test button to measure real latency for all nodes. Identifying the fastest server is crucial.

2) Select the Best Server

After testing, latency (e.g., 250ms) appears next to each server. Tap the lowest-latency node to select it.

3) Tap to Connect

Tap the large V button at the bottom. It turns green upon success, and you’ll see a VPN/key icon in the status bar.

4) Verify Your IP

Open your browser and visit What’s My IP to confirm the IP has changed.

Troubleshooting Common v2rayNG Issues

Connected but no internet: Ensure your Android system time is accurate (Settings → System → Date & Time → enable automatic time/zone). Try another server with normal latency.

Subscription update fails: Double-check the URL, and try updating with the proxy toggled off, then on.
